This reminds me of a story. A long time ago there was a prince who was known for his good looks and intelligence. Over time he started living a life of know it all mindset.

He was married to a neighboring country beautiful princess who was equally good-looking and intelligent. A couple of months later the princess wanted to visit her parents so both prince and the princes went to her parent’s palace.

As they reached, there was a heavy hailstorm and luckily they could immediately take shelter. The Prince had never seen a hail, he was too egoistic to ask his young bride. He saw kids trying to collect the hail and he turned away as he didn’t wish for anyone to see the surprised look on his face. His bride acted as if she didn’t even notice the hail. In her defense she has seen many since her childhood.

They reached the palace once the hail stopped, and the grand welcome was overwhelming. The prince just couldn’t take his mind off the hail. The princess and her parents thought that the prince was unhappy and tried their best to cheer him.

Not only the pride but the prince felt as if his ego was sabotaged by the princess. In spite of many attempts from the princess, the prince didn’t wish to speak to her or acknowledge her presence.

The princess knew something was not right. She approached her husband and asked why he was avoiding her, for which he replied, I am the learned one, I am your husband and prince, heir to the throne, you hurt my ego, when your father had arranged for diamonds to be thrown at us.

You knew about this and acted normal as if, you have showers of diamonds all the time. I am richer and mightier than your nation how could you be little me. Even your subjects were not greedy to pick up the diamonds except for few kids who were collecting them.

Now, the princess understood the whole issue and Burst out laughing. She explained to the Prince about hail and hugged her husband as his ego and pride had stopped him from enjoying their wonderful stay at her parents. He failed to enjoy their love and even the yummy feast.

Now you tell me was the prince happi with or without ego. I am sure you also know the empowers new clothes a well known tale, which explains the foolish state the King leads himself to because of his ego.
